With its summit at 3540 m, the Aiguille du Tour is located on the Glacier de Trient (in Switzerland) and on the Glacier du Tour (in France). It is without a doubt the ideal summit for a gentle introduction to mountaineering, facing a magnificent panorama of the mythical peaks of the Mont Blanc Massif! Your high mountain guide will supervise you throughout this expedition to enable you to acquire the basics of mountaineering on a varied terrain. You will have the opportunity to try crampons and ice axe and to practice climbing in snow and ice schools.
You will climb on glaciers in the heart of the Mont-Blanc massif, in the early morning the sun illuminates the Aiguille du Chardonnet, La Petite Fourche and Tête Blanche, from the terrace of the Albert 1er hut you can see the Aiguille Verte and its spectacular ice cap culminating at 4122m.
PROGRAMME / ITINERARY
Day 1: Meeting point in Argentière, Parking du Tour in the morning. Possibility of carpooling - consult your guide.
We take the cable car from Le Tour to the Chalet de Charamillon (alt. 2185m).
From the top of the gondola, we walk 1h30 to reach the Albert 1er refuge (D+ 550m).
Initiation to the snow and ice school, depending on the conditions.
Dinner and night at the Albert 1er hut
Day 2: Early morning departure from the Albert 1er hut.
Glacier walk with roped progression to reach the summit of the Aiguille du Tour (3 540m alt.) with a panoramic view between the Tour and Trient glaciers.
Walking time: between 7h and 8h. D+ 830m.
Return to the Tour car park at the end of the day.
