Before even taking the slightest step on the glacier, we need to change our atmosphere. From a northern Chamonix valley, sometimes dark and austere, succeeds the Valle d'Aosta, a true enclave, where vegetation reminds us of the Southern Alps. Here, there are larches, an incredible view of the mythical integral of Peuterey, and an indescribable atmosphere!
The day begins under the auspices of a good cappuccino! When, the taste buds are well awake, then comes the moment to go up a floor, via the "Skyway" swivel cable car, which teleports us in a few minutes to more than 3000m of altitude.
From here, two options are available to us: the crossing of the Aiguilles d'Entrêves can be done by day starting with the first bucket, where it is possible to immerse yourself a little longer in the heart of the Mont massif -White spending one night at the Torino refuge, and enjoying a sunset / sunrise always bright and colorful. The first day will be devoted to an introduction to mountaineering techniques, or the realization of a race a little easier.
After an hour of approach on the glacier of the Giant, we attack the ridge by difficulties that rise crescendo. The key passage (level 4) will mark the end of the climb.
From the top, the look can run 360 °: the face on Mont Blanc and its famous ridge "Intégrale de Peuterey" on one side, the Round Tower and the Cursed Combe on the other, the Aiguille du Midi in the distance, and pursuing the engaged ridge, the long ridge of ridge which attacks at the Dent du Géant and leads to the summit of the Grandes Jorasses.
After a break at the summit, a mixed descent, snow and rock will deposit us on the glacier. The return to the refuge / cable car will be made by the same way as the outward journey.
Difficulty: AD-, a step of 4
Altitude difference: about 100m
Timetable: approach 1h, crossing of ridge 3h, descent 1h.
