It is probably the most beautiful alpine course that borders Lake Annecy! Departure from the Chalet de l'Aulp in Montmin from where we take the path that goes up to the Tournette 2352m.
After 45 minutes of walking, we leave the path to join the access a couloir (a few climbing steps), then we find ourselves in the hanging garden which dominates the Montremont Valley located on the north side of the Tournette. The difficulties begin after this garden, we walk along the edge of the ridge overlooking the path to the Tournette, the atmosphere is spectacular and aerial, but the difficulties are moderate.
We use edge of ridge, goat rakes and other dihedral to progress between earth and sky; the descent from the top of the north antecime to the Col des Varo takes place on an incredible and sculpted rock, the limestone is very abrasive and adherent.
We reach the Col du Varo then the summit of La Tournette easily to enjoy the 360 ° panorama of the Alps: Mont-Blanc, Ecrins, Aravis and Bauges!
The descent is made by the normal route of the Tournette.
The whole run can be done in hiking shoes or mountaineering shoes, in spring and fall it is not ridiculous to wear crampons because the grassy slopes are slippery.
