Lofoten's Island on ski touring

Provisional programme – Ski touring in the Lofoten Islands (Norway)

Day 1 – Arrival in Svolvær
Welcome at Svolvær airport at the end of the day.
Check-in at the lodge (e.g. Lofoten Ski Lodge in Kabelvåg).
Presentation of the programme and equipment check, safety briefing by the guide.

Day 2 – Skiing around Svolvær
Ascent of Varden (700 m) and/or Småtinden (842 m)
Elevation gain: approx. 1,025 m
Panoramic view of Austnesfjorden
Optional cultural visit: Lofoten War Museum in Svolvær

Day 3 – Skiing in the south of the islands
Ascent of Trolltindan (985 m) from Sørvågen
Elevation gain: approx. 935 m
Descent with views of the Reine fjord
Optional cultural visit: Nusfjord fishing village (listed as a heritage site)

Day 4 – Skiing in the Moskenesøya region
Ascent of Hermannsdalstinden (1,029 m) – the highest peak in Lofoten
Elevation gain: approx. 1,000 m
Spectacular views of the surrounding islands
Option: visit to the Viking Museum in Borg on the way back

Day 5 – Skiing + transfer to Henningsvær
Morning skiing on Offersøykammen (436 m)
Elevation gain: approx. 400 m, ideal for a half-day
Transfer (2-hour drive) to Henningsvær, an artistic village
Check-in at local accommodation

Day 6 – Skiing around Henningsvær
Ascent of Geitgallien (1,085 m) – iconic summit
Elevation gain: approx. 1,094 m
South couloir or east-west traverse depending on conditions
Optional cultural visit: Kaviar Factory (contemporary art museum)

Day 7 – Last day of skiing
Ascent of Presten (518 m) – spectacular couloir visible from the road
Elevation gain: approx. 513 m
Return to Svolvær at the end of the day
Possible visits: Galleri Espolin in Kabelvåg or Lofoten Aquarium

Day 8 – Departure
Early morning departure for Svolvær Airport
End of stay

Supervision by a qualified mountain guide or ski instructor who is a specialist in Norway.

-Ski wide hike (between 80mm and 100 mm on the skate) + mandatory knife
-Baggage in the hold: 1 ski bag + travel bag / weight not to exceed 30 kg
-Handpackage: a 30l backpack for traveling and for skiing during the day
-2 types of ski mask screens (sun and fog)
- 2 pairs of warm, waterproof gloves or mittens
-Gore-tex jacket and pants or equivalent for skiing in bad conditions (snow and blizzard)
-Double advised.
