Day 1: The Mont Veyrier ridges
D+1019m D-829m Dist 17.8km 6h15 walking time
Meet at 8.30am in front of Annecy SNCF station for a briefing and meeting with your mountain leader.
The first day's walk begins by the lake. We reach the little port at Annecy le Vieux for our first ascent through the forest. Most of the day will then be spent on a ridge path with breathtaking views over the lake. Descent to the Col de Bluffy.
Overnight in a holiday residence (in rooms for two to five people).
Day 2: Around the Teeth of Lanfon
D+1348m D-469m Dist 10.2km 4h30 walk
Depart for the climb up to the Col des Frêtes. The ascent is steep but will give way to a new breathtaking panorama at the base of the dents de Lanfon. After a picnic lunch, we'll make our way to the Talamarche peak, which offers an exceptional panorama of Lake Annecy, the Aravis mountains and Mont Blanc!
Overnight in a hut (dormitory).
Day 3: Ascent of Tournette
D+1445m D-1222m Dist 13.06km 6h05 walking time
A day devoted to climbing La Tournette, the highest peak around Lake Annecy. This is a route with many aerial passages (cables, chains, ladders). If we're lucky, we'll come across a herd of ibex along the way. The summit offers a 360° view of the surrounding mountains and the famous Mont Blanc massif.
Overnight in a refuge (dormitory).
Day 4: From the Tournette massif to the Bauges massif
D+1445m D-1222m Dist 11.8km 5h15 walk
Today we change sides and head west of Lake Annecy into the Bauges massif. The first part of the day will take us to the village of Montmin at the foot of La Tournette, with a steep descent. A taxi will take us to the other side of the lake, to the foot of Coal Mountain, to continue our tour. After crossing a passage cut into the rock, we emerge into a magnificent combe where a refuge awaits us for the night.
Overnight in a hut (dormitory).
Day 5: Cross the Montagne du Charbon and climb Mont-Trelod
D+1162m D-1401m Dist 17.3km 6h45 walk
We continue our day's trek across the Charbon mountain range towards Mont-Trelod, the 4th highest peak in the Bauges at 2181m. We'll be in the heart of the Bauges Massif Game and Wildlife Reserve. If we're discreet, we may spot chamois and other mountain animals along the way. Depending on the group's level of fitness, it may be possible to climb the Trelod.
Overnight in a refuge (dormitory).
Day 6: Taillefer
D+368m D-1256m Dist 15.5km 5h10 walk
Last day of trekking. We set off towards the lake via the Taillefer ridges.
Once we reach the lakeside, the Lake Annecy boat company's "Navibus" will take us to the old town of Annecy by water.
Break at around 5 p.m.
