We propose you to discover the Cerces massif in a 5 days and 4 nights itinerary from refuge to refuge. Our route will start in the Italian enclave of the narrow valley, for a first short day of warm up. The melezin gives way to a much more mineral environment as we gain altitude. On the second day, we will start the ascent of Mount Thabor which culminates at 3178m. The itinerary will be strewn with lakes and rivers with a high mountain background as we will see the Vanoise and Écrins massifs successively. On our route, we will also find stigmata of the Maginot line as well as old graphite mines formerly exploited.
In short, the Cerces is a summary of wild mountains in a preserved massif far from civilization. To discover absolutely!
