We propose to start this trek at the foot of the Mauvoisin dam which is located in the Bagnes valley in the Swiss Valais. The Valais region has many lake dams built after the second world war when the demand for energy and the population exploded in Switzerland. After crossing the dam we will go up to the right bank of the lake to reach the Chanrion hut which has just been renovated in 2021. We are on a stage of the famous Haute-route Chamonix Zermatt. The next day, our route continues in the direction of Italy which we reach via the Durand window which is located between Mont Avril and Mont Gelé. The mineral gives way to the mountain pastures as we descend. Most of the day will be spent on a balcony route with the Grand Paradis massif in the background. After a good night in Italy, we will continue our route via the Champillion pass which offers us a breathtaking view of the Mont-Blanc massif. We go back up towards the Grand Saint-Bernard pass to reach the hospice of the same name where we will spend the night. After a good break in this place full of history and spirituality, we will resume our journey the next day via Bourg-Saint-Pierre and go back up to the Col de mille hut and its panoramic view of the Italian and Swiss sides of the Mont-Blanc Massif. The itinerary then joins the heart of the massif and leads to the massive Corbassière glacier. The night will be spent at the FXB Panossière hut on the edge of the glacier facing the Grand Combin : Magical ! The last day will be short, we will switch to the Bagnes valley via the Otanes pass and its ibexes.
