Introduction to ski touring in Grand-Bornand

Initiation au ski de rando au Grand-Bornand

A day off or a ski trip planned? Take advantage of your next stop in the Aravis to learn about ski touring! The Annecy Office guides offer you the opportunity to discover ski touring in the heart of the Grand Bornand ski area on marked itineraries where the difference in altitude is reasonable and accessible to the greatest number.

The ski area has two itineraries dedicated to ski touring, accessible from the start of the slopes, from the Chinaillon snow front and from Grand Bornand village.

The first itinerary starts at the Joyére arrival station in Grand Bornand: this itinerary will take you not far from the Roc des Arces, under the Mont Lachat de Châtillon, passing through a magnificent pine forest. The view of the Aravis mountain range will leave you with a beautiful memory!

The second itinerary leaves from La Mulaterie in Chinaillon. There is not much forest on this itinerary which will take you under the Pointe d'Almet with the view of the Pointe Percée as a reward at the top. If the view of the highest point of the Aravis is really worth the diversions, the only drawback of this itinerary is the proximity of the ski lifts, which can sometimes be a bit noisy.

In both cases, these ski touring itineraries will allow you to familiarize yourself with the technical equipment, which is different from that of alpine skiing (skis, skins, boots and avalanche rescue equipment). This outing is particularly well suited to beginner ski touring skiers who want to try out new skiing sensations in complete safety. Your guide is a specialist in the area and will give you valuable advice on how to maximize your energy in conversions and other specific ski touring basics.

Once you have completed this stage, we encourage you to improve your skills and discover wilder routes far from the resorts, where ski touring makes sense:
